A tiny hope for Windows

Here, on Engadget, you can read of a public demonstration Microsoft made today, of the upcoming Internet Explorer 10.

It’s all nice an neat: a pletora of graphical effects running smooth and tidy in IE versus slow and choppy on Chrome.

But IMHO that’s not the point.

The real point, which the presentation fails to address, is that the underline machine is an ARM!

You have to see it to believe it: An ARM7 core at 1GHz running win7 plus a hundred moving textures -“sprite” they would have been called years ago- in a most smooth way!

If anything has ever to come out of this, is that maybe, hopingly, finally, windows WILL have some decent performance!
But I sincerely doubt we X86 users will ever see such a thing…

Unless we ditch X86 for Arm altogether, which is becoming quite attractive an hypothesis the more the time passes.
